Overview

Avlo Weather is built to respect your privacy. There are no ads, no accounts, no logins, and no third-party trackers or analytics SDKs. Most of the app works entirely on your device.

This policy explains the one case where data leaves your device: opt-in weather notifications.

What we collect — only if you enable notifications

Notifications are off by default. Nothing is sent to our server unless you turn them on in Settings. If you do, we store the minimum needed to deliver them:

  • A push token for your device (issued by Apple Push Notification service). It lets us send notifications; it is not tied to your identity.
  • Your approximate location(s) — coordinates rounded to roughly the nearest ~1 km — for the place(s) you want forecasts for. We do not store your precise GPS location.
  • Your notification preferences (e.g. delivery time, which alert types, units, time zone).
  • An anonymous, random device identifier generated on your device. It is not your Apple ID, email, name, advertising ID, or any account.

We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity, and we do not log IP addresses for profiling.

How we use it

Solely to generate and deliver the weather notifications you asked for (daily overview, precipitation, and pressure-change alerts). We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

Weather data

Forecasts come from Apple WeatherKit and other free public weather APIs, requested by location. These requests are subject to the respective providers' terms and privacy policies.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Push delivery necessarily transits Apple Push Notification service, which handles the message on your device's behalf.

Retention & deletion
  • Turn notifications off in the app and your device record (token, locations, preferences) is deleted from our server.
  • Tokens that Apple reports as no longer valid are automatically purged within ~60 days.
  • Short-lived delivery logs (used only to avoid sending duplicate alerts) are kept ~60 days, then deleted.
Children

Avlo Weather is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
