Focus 1.7: notes that hold the work
A toolbar like Google Docs, photos in notes, tasks inside your notes, steps inside your tasks, and importing from Notion, Obsidian and Bear.
Focus 1.7 is mostly about notes. Here’s what changed.
A toolbar like Google Docs
The note toolbar is laid out the way Docs does it: undo and redo, a style menu (normal text, three sizes of heading, quote and code block), font and size, then formatting, colour, alignment, lists, indent and a clear-formatting button. You can add tables and dividers too.
Photos in notes
Add a photo from the toolbar. Big photos are shrunk before they upload, so a note full of them stays quick to open. Photos you take out of your notes are cleaned up after a week.
More colours, and more fonts
Text and highlight colours are now a full grid of shades. They also adapt to your theme, so a colour you picked in Light mode is still easy to read in Dark or AMOLED. There are six new fonts too, including Inter, Lora, Playfair Display and JetBrains Mono.
Tasks live inside your notes
Use Insert task to drop any task into a note as a card you can tick off right there. Rename or reschedule the task and the card keeps up.
Break a task into steps
Add steps to any task from its editor. The task shows how many are done, and tapping the count opens them right in the list, where you can tick them off or add another. Ticking the task ticks its steps, and ticking the last step asks whether the task is done too.
Bring your notes with you
Import Markdown, text and web pages, or a whole .zip export from Notion, Obsidian or Bear. Notion’s colours and checklists come across too.
Tidier on a computer
On the web, Settings opens as a window over whatever you were doing, with a search box. You can hide the notes list to give a note the full width (⌘\), and every New button now says what it makes.
Corners are also the same shape everywhere now, so cards, buttons and menus look like they belong together.
